My name is Maïté, and I'm the face behind Zenn in the City.
I'm a certified skin specialist with over fourteen years of experience, and someone who believes that real beauty starts with feeling safe in your own skin.
Rotterdam Roots
I was born half Aruban and half Belgian, but I'm a true Rotterdam native at heart. I grew up here, shaped by the city's directness, resilience, and no-nonsense mentality. I didn't grow up deeply connected to my cultural roots, and it's that grounded, straightforward Rotterdam energy that truly defines how I live and work.
Zenn in the City is rooted right here, in the heart of Kralingen. This is the place where I consciously chose to settle — a neighbourhood that feels calm and alive at the same time, just like the work I do.

More Than Skin Deep
As a skin specialist, I've spent years working closely with people. When someone sits in my chair, they often share more than skin concerns. Stories, emotions, and sometimes the deepest secrets come up naturally.
That closeness taught me how deeply skin, confidence, and emotional wellbeing are connected. In many ways, my work has always carried a therapeutic layer — even before I consciously stepped into that space.
Especially in a world where access to botox, fillers, and cosmetic procedures is becoming more and more common, my focus has always been on enhancing natural beauty. Not changing faces, but supporting skin health, expression, and confidence in a way that feels honest and sustainable.
A Personal Turning Point
My own life experiences shaped this path even further. During the COVID period, I lost everything — professionally and emotionally. That time taught me something essential: you can take care of the outside endlessly, but if the inside is neglected, real healing and growth remain limited.
That insight deepened my love for working with people on an emotional level, alongside caring for their skin.
It's why Zenn in the City exists as a place where my two greatest passions come together.
